Well, when I wanted to write http://linuxmafia.com/wpfaq/ in DocBook SGML, all I did was pull down a recent HOWTO's SGML source, and follow its example using vim as my editor. To produce downstream formats such as multipart and single-page HTML: 1. Download ldp.dsl from the LDP site. 2. Install the jade, docbook-dsssl, and docbook packages. 3. Fix a couple of path references in ldp.dsl, to fix all locations where it specifies the HTML and printing versions of docbook.dsl . 4. Following the examples of the LDP Author Guide, come up with "compilation" recipes like this one of mine: jade -t sgml -i html -d ldp.dsl\#html wordperfect-linux-faq.sgml jade -t sgml -i html -d ldp.dsl\#html -V nochunks wordperfect-linux-faq.sgml > wpfaq-singlepage.html Works for me.<tm> But yes, DocBook SGML seems to be one hell of a lot more complicated than LinuxDoc SGML was -- and for rather little benefit, in my opinion. -- Cheers, "Teach a man to make fire, and he will be warm Rick Moen for a day.
