It's actually a good thought, and might be worth a try. But certainly
you might try ph-linux-newbie, too.

Truth to tell, Xandros Desktop OS _is_ Debian (in all senses that
matter). Debian is an administrative architecture and maintenace
regime. The particular installer you use to get onto that architecture
& regime doesn't really matter. You could install it using Xandros CDs,
Knoppix, the Progeny Graphical Installer, Libranet, an LNX-BBC
mini-disc, _or_ the plain-vanilla Official Debian installer.
But Xandros is a _perfectly_ good way to get a Debian system going (on
x86)
