I am interested to join. There maybe some more out. There's nothing wrong in setting up a new group. A little brother of PLUG. Where the discussions are less technical than what we have here. If you can get this started, we can increase the number and invite those currently using windows (like me) to move to linux.

Thank you Mr. Sevilla for your initiative on this.

My perception of desktop linux users may be off the mark, since I don't know enough about them yet, but can I assume that?

1. the majority probably access the internet using dial-up connections
2. are probably knowledgeable enough to set-up POP3 on an email client

At least the above describes me. I may be atypical.

In my case, an email based system may be preferrable. I for one would not like to tie up my telephone unecessarily which would be the case for a purely web based system. Neither would my wife, for obvious reasons :)

But, as I note, I may be atypical and a web-based forum would be far better than none.

I would also be happy to share knowledge and assist in manning the forum.

There are at least a few who seem interested and willing to "man" the
forum. This leaves me with just one more question in mind:

Will an email-based mailing list on lists.free.net.ph (with searchable
web-based archives but no way to post mail over the web on its own) make
sense? Or should we wait for someone to set up a purely web-based forum
instead?
