Thank goodness for that! I was beginning to get very worried. Hopefully
a future release will allow you to send codes from any screen but for
now you'll just have to go into the applet if you want to send any
codes.
I'm going to re-vamp it to (hopefully) make it easier to configure as
this is obviously the biggest stumbling point.  There will however be an
RC3 with minor changes:
I noticed an error being logged but it didn't affect the applet in any
way so that has been fixed and ... the Back key now works :-D

Maybe I could use some hot-key combination to turn ir on and off and
maybe even to allow you to switch the setup of which keys did what for

A global setup would certainly be easiest and the profile switching
hot-key idea above would get round any inflexability if people wanted to
do something different. I believe coding the ability to do different
things within different screens would be a nightmare and I'm too lazy! 
I will keep the idea of having different setups within the squeeziIR
menus themselves though to allow for sending advanced commands from the
customised  menu screens.
