Capturing ir codes will require you to build or buy a "magic eye" that
is compatible with the lirc software.  Some TV cards come with them.  I
don't think the ir receivers built into laptops can be used to capture
ir codes but I may be wrong and in any case, you'd probably have to
write some software to interpret the receiver's output. What is the
model of your amp/remote control? Maybe I can figure something out. I
have the feeling that Yamaha use a variant of NEC protocol that is
similar but different enough to require a bit of re-work.
