True.
In the meantime, this is the technique I use - it's taken from one of my scripts and
will need some
adaptation - the basic idea is to use *dos to run the executable + echo a specific
pattern while ppro
waits for that pattern to be echoed. You'll need Julien's 2ppvar.exe - possibly
modified to support
standard configuration escapes (backslash) as it appears in a recent thread.

;
; now make sure to wait for *dos to complete before continuing with the
; rest of the script
;
; OS DEPENDENCY: the technique used to block until cmd.exe returns
; (see gvSay_Wait below) relies on the availability of the & syntax
; of your *dos command processor
;
; Grep this pattern from DOS shell output
local TheTime=date++time

; "greetings" by talk2me.exe
do("*dos *hide \"%bin%\\talk2me\"", "greetings"++" & echo "++TheTime++" | 2ppvar
gvSay_LastCompletedAt", "")

;
; block max 120 seconds until *dos returns
;
wait for 120000,TheTime == word(line(gvSay_LastCompletedAt,1),1
