The best solvent, bar none, is CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. This is a 
quick drying, leave no residue formula that I discovered for marine use. 
I have repaired just about every possible electronic component you can 
think of and this stuff works when it comes to cleaning. It's mfg. by 
CRC Industries, Inc., Warminster, PA. I bought (buy) mine at West Marine.
