For OS X get the blue & White. Better yet go with OS 9.1 and wait until OS X is a mature, stable, debugged system. Better than paying for 4 or 5 upgrades on the way ... at a C note per upgratde.
Very true. I am thoroughly sick of paying this much money every single year for an OS upgrade. I work in education so I save about 50%, but still.
Apple is paving the way for future problems by making each step of OSX a paid upgrade. What will happen is that they will end up with a signifant base of people on Jaguar, another portion on Panther, and another on 10.1. This disparity will only lead to compatibility issues down the road. They expect that people will "just buy the latest release". A very arrogant attitude.
If you already own the Mac hardware, you should be entitled to the latest OS. It's not like we are running OSX on Intel. The people who buy Apple hardware are the reason Apple is successful. (More recently, Apple seems to care more about iPods than anything else).
My rant for the day is over! :)
