I presume this means you have a copy of BeOS for PowerPC? Would you
be interested in selling or copying it for me? I'd love to try BeOS
on these machines.
As an historical aside, Jean Gassee' referred to BeOS as 'Amiga 1996'
when he came out with BeOS. Like the Amiga before it, it was small,
fast, efficient and friendly. I tried BeOS 4.5 on x86 and it was
great, no wonder M$ went to such great pains to kill it. It was so
blatantly superior to Windows that it wasn't even funny. Let's see..
fifteen seconds to full desktop or.. two minutes plus to fakey almost
usable desktop with hourglass pointer for another minute and a half..
BeOS just kicked ass and I'll never forgive M$ for killing it off.
They did so by telling vendors, notably Hitachi, that if they tried to
sell BeOS in any configuration then they couldn't buy Windows
anymore. Yeah, that's fair. No monopoly control there..
Anyway I always wanted to get my hands on BeOS for PPC. I have a
PegasosI running MorphOS too. No Windows box to hand here except the
wife's and I'm working on that too..
Thanks
Bolton
I have a BeBox (dual 603 133mhz) and while it seems slow now, compared
to what I was running in 1996 (P100 Windows 95) it kicks Windows ass, no
contest. Since I still have the above mentioned Windows box I can give
a direct hands on comparison. While Windows 95 seems so dated and it's
multimedia abilities are more hype than reality, the BeBox still rocks.
If you want to see BeOS scream, run it on a Daystar Genesis MP800.
