Check out your local Mac user groups for any donation projects they
have going on. I live near Orlando which has a rennovation program
that fixes and donates Macs to people. I also know a guy here where I
live who does this on his own and I try to give him whatever extra
Macs or Mac stuff I have that he can use.

It also amazes me at the throw away society we live in. I am an closet
dumpster diver and I have been threatened with arrest before for
allegedly stealing trash. WTF ?

I hardly ever find Mac stuff (imagine that) but I grab what computer
stuff or any good stuff I see. Unfortunatley I don't have a warehouse
so I have to limit myself sometimes.

Check out Freecycle.org which is local groups who pass on and ask for
free stuff to keep it out of the landfills. I have given away
computers and recieved computers through the local Freecycle group
here in my hometown.

I would suggest trying it yourself. PBfixit has some good photo
tutorials and anybody can do it if they take care, keep it organized
and take plenty of time. Check out the take-it-apart guide and see
how difficult it is or isn't before you decide.
