Thanks for generously offering your assistance, Michael.

Here are the dates and the sizes of the four Setup Database files:

Setup Database: today  (216k)
Setup Database 2:  7/12/04  (172k)
Setup Database 3:  5/11/06  (240k)
Setup Database 4:  5/14/06  (244k)

To add to this mystery, I should also point out that I have SIX Server-
side Database files, numbered in the same manner as the Setup Database
files. I've had these multiple files for a long time, so I haven't
considered there to be a link between these files and my new low level
database rebuild problem.

Any further ideas, anybody?
