Yeah, that doesn't really make sense. If you have an Xserve RAID, are you going to throw away a fifth of your rack space for virtual memory? Hell no. I think somebody made that guideline up out of thin air. >Speaking of drives: I remember the HD on a Performa 5200 crapping out >under warranty. Hell, back sometime probably between 1988-1992 (I can't remember exactly when), we bought a 52 MB hard disk expansion unit for our Amiga 500. As I recall, it retailed for about $600 CAD or so at the time. Within a year, there was some sort of hardware failure that necessitated having it replaced. In fact, I think the replacement was wonky too, and they subsequently replaced it as well. In any case, after one of those two replacements, the 52 came back as a 105 MB disk. I remember the feeling of shock and exctasy in discovering this, followed by an entire afternoon of physical inspection and tests with disk utilities to verify what I thought was true. :) -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
