Remember, however, that a great many of the finesses that we came to know and love in OS9 were originally 3rd party add-ons that Apple appropriated -- things like Windowshade, BeHeirarchic, and others. Whenever I had to work at a different office on somebody else's mac -- before I ever touched OSX -- I always used to carry a CD-R with my favourite extensions and control panels and such like to install for the duration of my tenure there, just so I felt at home and could work as efficiently as possible. So this is not a specific OSX issue. The evolutionary process of 3rd party ideas becoming part of the OS itself took place over many years; OSX is still relatively young, and maybe many of the things that we currently rely on bolt-ons to accomplish will become built in in the near future. Just food for thought. Rick ----------- G4/500 MHz (DP) :: OS 10.2.6 :: PM 4.1.3 :: 3 pane mode :: 768 MB RAM <www.sharkattack.co.uk>
