I too have done this BUT having had the camera 'die' with no warning
that I noticed last Saturday I would recommend always carrying a set of
the Lithium batteries for the camera body! The S2 could in fact be used
with just the AA batteries (with the special adaptor in the lithium
battery holder - it didn't need the third battery a button cell to work)
