Dear Ian

Although there are special settings for special printers 72 dpi is generally
considered a screen/web resolution and not a print resolution. 300dpi is
considered the standard for print files. (or 120dpcm). That means if you want
a print 10 inches square it will be 3000 x 3000 dpi. Ten inches square at
72dpi is only 720x720.

I wouldn't rely on the person who said that anything that looked good at 100%
on screen would print well. Depends on the print process. I have done tests
which show this not to be so.
