[PRODIG] Interpolation

Hi All,
Many thanks for all the help Re: Sensor size. 
This is almost directly related to my quest for "Big Digital"!

I found this on a commercial web site:
"As a rule of thumb it is generally possible to double the size of a scanned or captured image without significant degradation of the image sharpness. "

I have always understood that interpolation should be avoided at all costs, but this view makes me wonder whether my D100 images would be suitable for full A4 with bleed CMYK reproduction at 360dpi (175 lines).
I should be very interested to hear from anyone with practical experience along these lines.
