This is what I 've done, picking through the advice.
Taken up knitting.

Actually, I've scanned at 4000/14 bit leaving the file size at its automatic
maximum size (about 494mb).
Then in Photoshop I've gone to Image Size, unticked the resample box and put
in 60" in the document size. When taken to 8bit that gives me an automatic
ppi of 149.4.

I'm hoping that this will suffice. The printer is being organised by the
client (sponsored job) and he wasn't much help when asking about output etc.
