Hi List

I offer imaging workflow advice and training for photolibraries. Normally
this concerns conventional scanning of transparencies etc but recently I
have seen may good files come from digital cameras directly and I believe
its about time that such images were accepted for stock.

I know there has been recent posts on this subject, the client is not
expecting 100mb files, the spec is for 55mb (A3 @300dpi). This would involve
interpolation from the camera original files.

I'm writing a spec that would require submissions from at best uncompressed
raw files and at worst least jpg compression files, interpolated by the
photographer and submitted as RGB tiff.

Having recently played with a Canon D60 and seen very (very) slight edge
artefacts I'm considering which cameras may qualify as serious film
replacement platforms. Since I don't own any of the higher spec cameras I
would appreciate guidance from people on the list as to what cameras fall
into this category. The Canon 1Ds would seem to fit, what would the others
be?

Much modern stock is pretty loosely shot and is not intended to be 100%
technically perfect but occasionally there will be shoots were detail
capture is also important.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Stephen Johnson
