Baaaaad move. Never let Norton near a Mac. Use DiskWarrior to repair disks -
always.

If you switch your Mac off at night, use either MacJanitor, (thanks, PB) or
Macoroni (thanks, AK). The first is free and the latter costs just $8 but
you can try it out for 14 days. Go to VersionTracker of Google to find the
download URLs.

Both programmes run some cleanup routines which OS X would normally if left
on 24/7.
