Dear list,

It was pointed out to me by a scientist friend of mine when his laptop
battery would no longer charge. He took it apart. He then got some bods
in his department to comment. The cells consist of the lithium in layers
and plastic imbetween, I don't want to go into the physics, cause I
can't. Anyway aparently if the charge reguarly falls below 2.5v then the
lithium ions, or something like that break free and start breaking down
the plastic layers. So leaving your cell unable to hold a charge. So if
the charge is kept above this level the cells will last indefinately,
alledgedly.

Just of interest and may save you some dough in the long run.

cheers

Ian Reynolds
