As a side note to this. I was reading something recently (from Apple I seem
to remember) that its a bad idea to leave your laptop plugged into the
mains, when it does not need to be. Apparently it shortens the batteries
life.

I nearly always have mine plugged in and have not had any battery problems
yet, but perhaps I will one day. I thought (perhaps wrongly) that the
Lithium batts were a big advance on the older types, perhaps the advance is
not so great after all?
