Hi Bob

I use Filemaker Pro to catalogue all my archives and I find it very
effective and easy to locate the cds. I've been looking into buying hard
drives to store my archives as I'm spending too much (valuable) time burning
to cd / dvd, possibly smaller drives of about 200GB so as to limit the risk
of one going wrong. The obvious advantage to cds if one gets bust is I'm
only loosing some and not all my archive, if I go to the lengths that others
on this list do for archiving then I would have to ask for more payment from
the client for this service, a sizeable amount they would probably not want
to pay.

On a more jovial Friday am note:

I plan to back up everything, when I go on location I drive my own car
followed by two other cars (as back up), in one of them is another
photographer (in case I snuff it on route), each car also has a full set of
identical kit in the boot. I aim to have two studios, as you never know if
one may burn down on the night before a shoot. I hope to have three store
rooms separated by several miles to store all my vat bills and receipts in
triplicate, I don't want the vat inspector to get angry if I can't find the
paperwork! Also I am hoping to have talks with a leading cloning company
with the view to back up myself and my family three fold.

Have a good weekend
Take life easy
