A RAID also doesn't protect you from you're own mistakes which in my case at least is by far the biggest threat. If you accidently delete or overwrite a file, you've instantly wiped it from your backup too.


That's also one of the shortcomings of using synced partitions like I described earlier as my method of backing up current jobs. I chose ChronoSync to keep my partitions in sync largely for just this reason. Many of the file sync utilities won't do two way synchronizations and they won't handle file deletions well. ChronoSync does both. In other words I can work on both my laptop and desktop between sync operations. ChronoSync finds the latest versions of files on both and places them and moves them in the proper direction. Rather than deleting deleted files from both partitions, it moves them to a deleted files folder where they stay until you manually move them to the trash.
