Hi,

I am a little confused as to my "save" settings in photoshop concerning jpg
file.

I have set of jpg shot on my canon 1ds, now say for example the .jpg file
as shot and saved to the computer is 4.7mb (this is from the large .jpg
setting and set to 10/max in the camera) if I then open the file assign a
copyright notice and assign a colour space (1998) and save as the file size
is increased to 6.1mb at level 12, it is then 3.7mb at level 11 and 2.3mb at
level 10. No one save level equates to the original file size (and it is not
due to adding copyright notice etc I have tried save as without any other
things applied and the results are the same)

My question is which setting will mirror the original image I do not want to
lessen the quality or of course add anything to the original file.

Is it possible that the camera .jpg has some compression when saved as do
the raw files and this only appears when a resave is done?

Apologies if this is basic stuff but I just want to keep the file as it was
without loss or gain to the original.

thanks
