Paul

It's a yes or no answer for people living on Pluto. To people living on the
third rock from the Sun, it doesn't matter a jot.

You have Photoshop, you have GC, you have a monitor, you have a printer, you
have a digital camera (or two), do the test yourself and post your findings.
Let's see how many people find the answer to the above valuable. I strongly
suspect only one!

As the Buddha said when asked by a disciple "Lord Shakyamuni, what is the
meaning of life?" To which he replied, without pause or hesitation, "The
question is flawed so it has no answer of any value." The Lotus Sutra,
Chapter 27, Page 135 (The Awakening of the Mind to Usefulness). Pause for
Deep Thought!

What I would be more interested in is other people doing the test that I did
so that I can know for sure whether it was flawed. But seeing as no-one has
tried it, I did another test:

1. I opened a camera made JPEG
2. Duped it (keeping the original open)
3. Rotated the dupe
4. Saved the dupe
5. Opened it
6. Rotated it back to the original
7. Shift-dragged it into the original's window
9. Compared it to the original VISUALLY

Guess what? No visible "degradation" at 100% view OR at 400%. I didn't view
it any higher. You're welcome to do the test yourself since you think other
photographers don't know how to look for changes with their eyes.

My last word on this thread: There is NO visible "degradation" caused by
rotating a JPEG by 90, saving it, opening it, rotating it again (that's
TWICE, count it, and not once) in Photoshop and comparing it to the original
that I can see. If I run the eyedropper over it in Difference mode at 100%
view, the "odd" pixel has changed value by #1 while others remain
steadfastly at #0. If you can notice pixels that have changed by a value of
#1from your original containing 12,121,088 pixels, my advice is, don't go
near any Krypton.

If you have anything constructive to add to the thread, please do. I'm
always happy to learn. If you just want score points, I'm NOT interested.
