Hello Listees,

I am attempting to install OS9 on a separate internal Hard Drive on my G4
867DP Mac (Dual Bootable) with OS10.2.6 and OS 9.2.2 installed on the
original Hard Drive (in order to run scanning software).

The internal Hard Drive I am attempting to install OS9 onto is a new Western
Digital 120GB. The Hard Drive is being recognised by both OS9.2.2, Classic
and 10.2.6.

I have tried installing OS 9 from an original OS9 install CD as well as from
the "Software Restore" CD that came with the G4. I have also attempted to
install System 9 onto the separate Hard Drive (using OS9.2.2 on my original
Hard Drive).

Either way the Mac tells me that the Original OS9 install CD will not work
with the G4. I have also tried to install OS9 from the Original CD using
"Classic" in OSX. The software installer did run, but the new OS9 System
Folder was not "blessed" and even after I managed to do this (more by luck
than judgement !) would not act as a Start Up disc.

I have also rebooted from OSX to the OS9.2.2 (Not 'classic') on the original
Hard Drive in an attempt to run the installer on the System 9 CD and receive
the message that the installer programme will not work on this machine. I
have Reinitialised the Disc using the Drive Set up on the Mac OS Install CD
and this appears to work, but when I tried to start-up from the Original OS9
Install CD it refuses, even though it works fine as a start up disc on my
G3.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
>From David
