Hello,

Wonder if anyone out there uses medium format digital backs made by imacon
or the "eyelike" made by Jenopic.

Hi Nic
I See jeff Smith has already made some positive comments about the Jenoptic system which I have heard very good things about but never handled.

I was going to splash out on the new Imacon ixpress, possibly the 22 Mpixel
option. I was persuaded by the fact that you can attach this back easily to
the rollei as well as to any other camera, it's very portable and fast, I
already use an Imacon film scanner so familiar with the software, has a
colour display and the possibility of upgrading to the latest technology in
the future.

I have been an Imacon user (of the 3020) for about three years now and have been very happy. I have done extensive testing with the 96 and 384 models (16MP) and the file quality is stunning especially from a 16 shot file (still life only!). You certainly have a head-start in being familiar with the flexcolour software which will be an advantage.
The image bank system is fantastic, you can shoot 1150 images (with the 16MP chip) continuously (about one every 2 seconds with no buffer filling up) or until you run out of batteries.
Depending on your shooting style the 22MP might be overkill IMO as these are big files and will take a fair bit of storage/processing timer if you shoot at a high rate. The 22 MP chip is approx 4cmX5cm which gets you pretty close to 1:1 lens coverage on a 645.
I have used the 96 on the Rollie and it does indeed work well.
One last thing to consider for either system is your local dealer and making sure that they are a good one!
