I've just got off the phone having spoken to an irate customer, a government
quango, complaining about the quality of digital files I supplied to them
saved at 300ppi, 7" x 5" in size. Going back to June when I bought my 1DS I
noted that the files looked quite grainy when I viewed them on an Apple flat
panel studio monitor so resorted to using my CRT (1152x 870) for the
majority of my imaging work. The apparent grain could be ironed out when
blowing the image up and I put it down to the lesser resolution of the flat
panel screen.

This customer is also complaining of apparent grain which again disappears
when the image is blown up, she is using flat panel LCD screens and does not
accept the difference in resolution between CRT's and flat panels, insisting
that they are very high resolution and she has never had this problem with
pictures from other photographers or pictures from her compact digital. I
cannot comment on other photographers work as I don't know what equipment
they were using and told her so. She has tried printing b&w pictures from
the colour digital files I supplied her using a lazer printer and says the
quality is poor, complaining of grain and white specks. I have just run some
prints off from my Epson 950 and the quality is absolutely stunning.

She says the files I supplied to her are unusable and is refusing to pay.
The only thing I can suggest is to supply a new disc with the files reduced
to 200ppi. Will this help matters at her end? I would be grateful to hear
from any others who may have also experienced this and any suggestions how I
may supply this customer with files best suited to her in-house laser
printer applications.
