A much better idea, is to use the timing facility built into Photoshop.


At the bottom of any the window, just to the right of the document sizes,
is a popup menu, select "Timing" from there and it will display the duration
of the previous action. You can also, from the same menu, select
"efficiency" and it will tell you it it's using the hard disk a lot. The
recommendation used to be that if efficiency was often below 75% that you
needed more RAM.
