Ian,
I recall reading somewhere that the problem is caused by the rear element on the lens
being too close to the Chip.
there is obviously a limit as the mirror has to flap up and down and still clear the 
real
element but is suggest you compare the offending lens with one that does not.
At any rate it sounds like a reflection of some sort,looks like time to change lenses 
!!
