For what at it's worth and without wanting to be too guilty of a 'me too', me too. This usually happens when I have a very large file open (800MB+) and then try to open a similar file...or opening a largish file (200MB+) over the network. No matter what anyone says, there *is* something up with PS CS. I, for one, work with it all day every day. Lovely new features, which I now feel I cannot live without, are clouded by speed issues and surprise quitting (not frequently but annoying when it happens). I have altered all my File Browser preferences but when I try and open a file from the File Browser, it still starts trying to build a preview of it which takes *ages* and hinders progress. Option Clicking on the image helps to an extent in the short term but if I then want to go and open another image, it carries on trying to build the preview from the last as I desperately try clicking the image I want. PS7 is the best version of PhotoShop so far, in my opinion - it flies along. I would like the new features of CS with the speed to match PS7, please! I'll save a rant about the healing tool in 16 bit for next time...
