> Currently it seems that DVD+RW is the most accepted format? Stick to DVD -R. It is almost a standard in Europe and most US machines can read it. All video and film makers are using DVD-R as I could verify with a good friend of mine ( Director of Photography for movies) living in Berlin who visited me recently , brought his reel in DVD and we discussed this in detail
Don't get stuck with discussions about formats when talking with Mac Users, since Apple took the ironic joy and time to modify the DVD formats among different generations of G4's down to the level of incompatibility among machines and you can go mad if asking too much. For external equipments, many claim the Pioneer 4X to be the top of the list and I have also read ( I don't own one though) many good reports on the recent LaCie units.
