Yes, in an ideal world one would like to think so but it just does not happen that way and PS saves all the files into one folder. Hence I imagine the reason why someone wrote the little Dr Brown utility which you and everyone recommends.
I have actually come up with my own work round which works on a Mac but am not sure about PC. Simply view the files as icons, then using << Sort Options >> select "Size". This then enables one to select either JPEGs or TIFFs on one go and move to another folder.
