I'm running the same. Reading a note that Colin Thomas posted in response to your initial query, I had checked for updates in the manner prescribed but had still had a problem afterward. I've been unable to find release notes to describe the problems that the respective service packs address. Where do I find that? Look for the icon with a diagonal red strikethrough, it'll be towards the top left underneath the text navigation of the application's menus. You should be able to find it in the manual as 'Stop Thumbnail Refresh'. You only need do it if your status indicator at the bottom of the thumbs window still shows it is loading thumbs.
