The problem that you are talking about is called highlight wrapping, 
and PhaseOne know about it.

They promised to try and fix it in the latest version of C1 3.5 
(v.921). If you have already downloaded this by using menu "C1 
Pro...Check For Updates" and you're still getting the problem, you need 
to let them know by using "C1 Pro...Provide Feedback".

They do pay attention to the feedback that we all send by this method 
(although they don't necessarily respond).

What is puzzling is why does it affect only a few images? Why do the
colours change? Why does it do it at all?

I have just noticed that the colour appears on the preview thumbnails 
sometimes. Again only very rarely. As you say I can't repeat it when I 
re-process the faulty file.
