Ive just covered a conference, you know the sort.
200 international visitors, I'm photographing the presentations and the camera,Kodak
Pro,
just stopped working.
That never, ever, happened with my Contax RTS3 !
The recording light continued to blink indicating files being written but camera just
stalled.
No problem, pick up the backup 14nx sitting on the floor, just waiting for a chance to
shine, switch on and continue snapping away.
Hardly a twitch from the client and the job completed.
BUT.
Problems with file reading! Photodesk did not recognise the files from camera 2 neither
did photoshop CS.
copied them to 4 computers then desperately tried digital Image recovery on the Flash
Card.It worked but is unaware of Kodak so called all the DCS files tiff, they don't
answer to Tiff .
Spent lots of time playing and taking the blood pressure tablets when on the 4th
reboot on
one machine, CS saw the files which I immediately converted and saved as tiffs.
It would have been quicker to process and print a film.
With film we knew where we stood, with digital we are fortunate if we can recover from a
"Glitch"
The dark ages are upon us :-))
Ive copied all the saved files unretouched to CD, twice . AND to a removable
drive.
Nightmares are sure to follow.
I have not a clue as to what went wrong, cards formatted in camera before shooting,
fresh
batteries and no more than 3 frame every half a minute etc

Must be bedtime now
Ps Bob
I believe the "Immediacy" of digital capture ruins the thrill of seeing the "processed
image" for the fist time ! does for me anyway,
