My comment was not intended to be negative and I am very happy that Adobe has
taken this step!

I was responding to some person's worry that the quality of the data would be
degraded by the conversion and other person's claim that the image quality
would improve. Further, some implied that this was a new raw to image
conversion process.

None of that is true; DNG is simply defining a data structure where individual
companies can put their raw data in a common format.

Further, it is very easy to write a converter to reshuffle the data into this
DNG format. It is much more difficult to create a RAW to image converter for
all the cameras out there.

I would expect for example Phase One, to be very happy about this. They would
have to write just one extra new DNG to image converter and then not worry
about future camera types to support.
