Hi,

Maybe I misunderstand the direction of this thread.

I have been a professional photographer for almost thirty years. I have
always earned my living through my (journalism) photography. When I started
it was black and white dunk tanks in 'Fleet Street'. I have seen changes
moving from monochrome to colour, C41 processing at events, Coolscans and
PowerBooks, modems mobile phones and now digital capture and modemless
transmission.

I learned my trade in about as analogue manner as it is possible to
imagine. I have been dumped in the digital age, and never having had to use
computers until I was in my thirties have had to learn off the seat of my
pants, and by asking my colleagues. This has not changed.

If I buy a new bit of kit, sometimes I am glad of a little bit of help.
AND I remember the help that people gave me when they were learning. Let us
not forget we were all novices, and perhaps sometimes we should not let some
kind of elitism talk hold. Let us not get stuck up our own arses! :)

        Kind regards

        Pete Jenkins

PS If I have somehow misinterpreted the direction of this thread, I do
apologise
