My dad has been using a PC since 1999.

He STILL doesn't really quite understand the difference between folders and files. Or why there's a "C" and a "D" drive on his computer.

But he uses OpenOffice and Firefox (and this fall, I'm moving him to Thunderbird).

None of it is quite as easy as using a refrigerator (although to see my wife cook, maybe a frig is harder to use than it looks), but File | Save is File | Save, and pushing the button with the dark "B" makes the highlighted stuff on the page darker, no matter if you're using Word, OpenOffice, WordPerfect or The GIMP. And that's about all he knows (or needs to know) to do.

Similar story with my dad. The difference between my dad versus the wife/daughter: my dad is open-minded and willing to listen to an explanation of how something works; the other two can't be bothered. ;-)
