http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/microsoft-updates-windows-without-users-consent/ MS can do it again any time they want. And actually, it seems like they sort of did (supposed to notify user before install, but the message didn't appear). The crux of the issue is that you cannot trust MS to regulate itself, and I doubt you can protect yourself from MS with just software measures on the machine in question. You're going to have to rely on other external hardware/software for that. Remember, if things really start to look bad for MS market share, etc, they'll just start whacking anyone with competing software on the computer (claiming it's not "trusted" of course). Oh, and don't forget, this is all within their "legal" right according to their license statement. Of course, you could write your own app to monitor all files on the PC, but then the damage'd be done by the time you recognized it anyway. -Charlie _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
