Two anecdotes don't make a conclusion. In the meantime, the ISP may
have updated routing tables, "the Internet" may have started routing
around the problem, someone might have rebooted the bad router, or the
phase of the moon could change.

And pings are one form of signal, on one port, that may be completely
unrelated to the problems you are having on whatever port(s) you
connect to the site.

Good. Serious network diagnostic tools should help resolve these
problems. Right now, we're really at the "turn it off and back on"
stage.

My boss at Blackstone (Peter Moon) was/is an awesome network guy.
Taught us so much about TCP/IP. DNS, name resolution, etc.
