This is the best part Ed, they already have standards internally. You buy a 
machine, it comes with
anti-virus already pre-loaded along with the OS. Nothing to download and 
compile. The vendors have
done all the work upfront by selecting the vendor who gives them the best deal 
that week. (all with
my tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I am sure they just install the same copy of the AV they bought for the first 
machine. (might as
well pull out the gasoline for the fire <s>)

Picking from a pile of the "same" operating systems and picking from a handful 
of anti-virus vendors
is not even close to the same thing Ed, sheesh. Let me see, if I pick a new OS 
I have to replace my
entire infrastructure (OS, Office, Email, mission critical custom database 
applications, etc). I
pick a $25 AV product and it does not work I go get the next one recommended by 
PC Magazine. I doubt
any company has come to a grinding stop to pick new AV products. Not even a 
company the size of GM
where every IT decision took a committee.
