Greetings all! Sorry for jumping into this thread so late. I have been buried with a few projects and have not been doing much eMail. I use Norton Ghost v9 and v10, as well as their Save & Restore 2.0. I am also still using the old pre-Symantec PowerQuest DriveImage v-7 on one machine. All worked well on Workstation class Windows OS, but not for Windows Server class OS. I did not want to pay a few gazillion dollars for Acronis' Server imaging. But I did find a disk imaging app that is great for either Windows Desktop or Server class platforms, and it is under $50.00 to license per machine! I know I have mentioned this app in the past, but here goes again. It is r_DriveImage from www.r-tt.com. Here are the features I find so useful:
- works with Windows Desktop and Server class OS - can be scheduled to run automatically - CD can be used to create or restore (Ghost can only restore from the Boot CD) - Price is certainly right on the money There is one limitation I have found, when restoring an image to a SATA HDD you can't restore directly to the drive in a machine booted from their restore CD (unless that has changed in a recent release). I actually had to remove a SATA HDD and place it in a separate machine as a slave drive, then restore from the USB HDD with the image files onto the migrated SATA HDD. After that I move the SATA HDD back into its own machine, and all worked fine. Other than that it is one hot product, along with their other offerings (which I have licensed also).
