Why can't anyone just follow the rules? My girlfriend teaches piano. She has a 24-hour cancellation policy. If the student cancels 24 hours or more before the lesson, she gives them a make-up, if they don't, there is no make-up. Still people will argue with her tooth and nail over a policy that they've read, agreed to, and signed. Suck it up. If you paid for a college course and you didn't show up for a class, you don't get your money back. If you leave a non-refundable deposit for a puppy and you change your mind, deal with it. A while ago I reserved a night at a motel in the Poconos. When I arrived there was no reservation. It turns out I mistakenly booked it for the night before. I asked whether he would refund my money, he said no, and I said OK. So luckily he had some rooms available and we took one. No problems, it was my fault, no yelling, no swearing.
