I would have answered this yesterday, but was out. You don't need to use any of the free services. By law, the major players (TRW, Transunion, etc.) are required to give you one free credit report per year. Just go to their site,or call them and ask. This is how I do it. The difference between their report and the free services is that the services format it nicely, and explain all the codes. I never had much problem understanding the plain reports, though.
