We don't actually disagree, methinks. I recognize the fact that by accepting
the funds AIG has basically handed over power to Frank and Schumer.... I
just think it's criminal stupidity even greater than what got them in the
sinking boat in the first place. 

My larger point is that the bailouts themselves were wrong, wrong, wrong.
The urgency to save these a$$holes was created to put the politicians in
this position of dictatorial authority, not to save the Republic or anything
nearly so altruistic. The whole thing was a charade.

To quote a full-throated Gore: "[They] played on our fears." Now they are
stoking them to grab even more power and steal even more of our rights.

Surely you agree that they're using this manufactured scandal to drive a
stake through the heart of private contract law?
