Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: Well, it depends. Ubuntu has a really smooth Out-Of-Box-Experience, simple installer, friendly user interface, excellent customer support. Fedora tends to have more software that breaks, as it is intended for developers and closer to the bleeding edge. Support is a little more you're-on-your-own, and the support forums expect you've done your homework, invested serious effort in searching the answer, understand how to diagnose your problem, and post a question that shows you've done your homework before asking someone else to solve your problem. I like Fedora because it works like Red Hat and CentOS and I am most comfortable with the tools and scripts and setup, and those are the distros my clients run, though I can work my way through an Ubuntu or Debian or OpenBSD installation. Bottom line: they all (well, except OpenBSD) run the same bits in about the same way. Mostly it's little fit-and-finish stuff. Like choosing between a high-end Dell, HP or Lenovo, it's mostly a matter of personal preference and how long you hold a grudge ;) -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
