I think the problem is that it DIDN'T get MIME-encoded, as MIME doesn't have
a known file type for a DDB or PCB, etc. file.  You could probably add a new
file type description for DDB, listing it as a binary file type, and the
recipient
would get it as an unknown-binary, MIME-encoded, and at least be able
to correctly reconstruct it at the other end.
