I must say that I agree with Naomi's post about asking medical questions
here. But what you are describing is not something a doctor is going to be
able to figure out. You know your body by now so it is a process of
elimination. I know by first-hand experience.

The sweating that you describe could not have been said better! It is a
clammy sweat so it makes me cold. This has been happening to me after I get
into my wheelchair in the mornings but it goes away quite quickly. So it is
something mysterious (to me and my husband) of which we can not find the
source. Isn't that the worst feeling? Thank goodness I live in the
Southwest now where I can just go outside in the very dry air in the warm
sun until it dissipates.
About six months ago the clammy sweats were happening very very very badly
soon after getting in the w/c. I thought it HAD to be

A) My spine
B) My cushion
           or
C) My hemmoroids

Believe it or not it was a pressure sore (albeit a tiny one) just on the
underside of my right foot. A very bad place to be seen. My home health
aide did not even notice it when she was washing my feet all those months.
And my husband is my primary caregiver but he had to be sitting in a chair
just right in our bedroom while I was in bed with naked feet for him to
catch a glimpse of it. MONTHS LATER!

I started propping my foot up on a pillow so there was *absolutely no
pressure* from the shoes that I have always worn. WALA -- clammy sweats
went bye-bye. It took us months to figure out that my profuse sweating
every day was caused by that itty bitty sore. Geeeeeeeez. And I know my
body best but it was something new to me after 28 years.

It sounds like something is bothering you in bed (not your chair or in a
shoe) but there is no apparent cause. To answer your question... I use an
alternating pressure air mattress right now.

In the past and I keep them on hand... are the waffle mattresses. They are
not alternating but are very very comfortable for me and never gave me a
problem. They are just a mattress overlay of air and they come with a
pump. You can see them at www.ehob.com . However, if you have been
following the threads for any length of time... the list member "W" goes to
many many medical shows whereby vendors come to show off their products. He
says that he can pick them up at around seven dollars apiece. Whereby ehob
ones about $70 for the mattress. Give it a try or contact your local vendor
to get an alternating air mattress.

Medicare pays for my alt pressure one (won't pay for waffle - go
figure) each month. They charge Medicare and arm and a leg and Medicare
fraud is outrageous but Medicare simply does not care.

WHAT mattress are you using now?
