I have a year old C500 that had the two back tires come completely off their split rims at different times. In each instance the chair was going over a fairly wide track (one was a sliding door threshold, and the other was a track for trains that was cut into the concrete.) The second time I was on an isolated pier in 90° heat fishing. So the back of the chair was sitting on the ground with the back tire lying beside it.
Two weeks ago I obtained a brand-new C500 ESP S ( Enhanced Steering Performance) unit. Once again, yesterday, the right rear tire came off its rim. Upon inspection, the inside of the tires which were supposed to contain grooves for mounting on the split rim were worn completely smooth. I have replaced both tires and rims on the new chair, hoping that this will solve the problem. I was wondering if anyone else using a Permobil of any model has had problems with the rear wheels? Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Billy
